June Lake Jam Fest

A festival worth showing up for

June Lake Jam Fest is a three-day festival on Gull Lake in the Eastern Sierra, now in its 11th year. It runs almost entirely on volunteers, and the money goes to arts and music education for kids in Mono County. I started out playing it. Over the years I kept finding more ways to help, and most of those turned into the work below.

On stage

I've played Jam Fest since 2018, with acts including the Brett Davis Experience and Hempstring Orchestra. That's where these relationships started, long before any of the tech.

The festival raffle

Through E-Lux Electric Bikes, I donated e-bikes to the June Lake Jam Fest raffle for several years. The raffle is one of the festival's biggest fundraisers, and the bikes were one of its most popular prizes. The money it raises goes to music education for kids in Mono County — the same kind of programs that gave me the tools for success, which should be available to all kids.

Althea, the festival's voice

In 2025 I built Althea, June Lake Jam Fest's first AI festival guide. She answers the festival's phone line around the clock by voice, text, and email. Ask her: lineup and set times, ticket pricing, the June Lake forecast, parking and ADA access, how to volunteer. When someone wants it in writing, she texts or emails a clean, formatted schedule, confirming their number first so every send is opt-in and the festival builds a contact list it can use. And because she's wired to the festival's live data, a set-time change shows up in her answers right away. No re-recording, no stale PDF.

Organizers get their own side of her: a broadcaster that sends branded, personalized announcements to the right audience from one simple form.

The operations system

For 2026 I'm building a platform that helps run the festival: one place that keeps the whole operation moving — bands, lodging, payments, scheduling, and volunteers — across 32 connected tables. It includes a live AI lodging recommender that matches bands to the right rooms, automations that follow up with bands on their open items, and dashboards that show organizers exactly where everything stands. It's a work in progress that keeps expanding toward every side of running the festival. I'm honored to be in a position to donate the entire platform to June Lake Arts.
